The HST Teacher Training Course consists of both mandatory and optional programs.
Mandatory programs are: the Three-Day HST Retreat, the Five-Day HST Intensive Teacher
Training Course (theory and intensive meditation retreat), and Heart-Smile Training Teaching Practice.

Optional courses consist of: more advanced practice theory (including Mahāsatipaṭṭhāna Sutta,
Ānāpānasati Sutta, Diamond Sutra and Platform Sutra), monthly practice of Heart-Smile Training
(held once a month), and Friday Meditation Sessions (held every Friday). One can participate in these
optional programs at one’s convenience.

Upon completing the Teacher Training Course, one may be certified as a meditation teacher after
a passing evaluation from the Heart-Smile Training Research Institute.
